Booth Invitations to Nonprofits for Vanguard College Preparatory School’s Community Service Fair Day

Vanguard has always believed in the value of community service and teaching youth about the importance of giving back. We recognize that Waco has an array of nonprofit organizations and that families may not be aware of these benefits within the Waco area. With this in mind, we are excited to announce a Community Service Fair Day on October 7, 2015 on our campus. We would be honored to have you be a part of this Community Service Fair Day. Please read through the event details below and reply back at kayla_kuhl@vanguard.org to join.

Waco area nonprofit organizations will be invited to have a booth at the Community Service Fair Day. Organizations will be provided with a table, tablecloth, chairs, snacks and lunch.

Why attend? Inform youth about your organization and provide information about volunteering opportunities.

Who is invited? Vanguard School students and parents. Public and private schools with students in grades 7-12 will be invited to send up to 10 students to this event.

Community Service Day Schedule:

  • 10:00 AM-10:30 AM Check-in
  • 10:30 AM-11:00 AM Set up of booth for nonprofit attendees
  • 11:00 AM  Welcome from Vanguard announcement
  • 11:10 AM  Community Service fair opens
  • 11:10 AM-12:30 PM Community Service Fair
  • 12:30 PM-1:00 PM Take down of booth

AFP National Philanthropy Deadline extended!

The deadline for National Philanthropy Day nominations has been extended through Friday, July 31. Individuals may nominate within the following categories: Lifetime Achievement Award, Philanthropist of the Year, Outstanding Philanthropic Business/Corporation, Outstanding Community Service Organization, Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser, Outstanding Foundation, Outstanding Fundraising Professional and Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy (ages 5-18). Nomination forms can be found online at http://www.centexafp.org and all nominations are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, July 31. National Philanthropy Day will be held Thursday, November 12, at Ridgewood Country Club.

Nominations are now open for the 32nd annual Governor’s Volunteer Awards! The awards will be held at the Texas Governor’s Mansion on September 21, 2015! 

In conjunction with the Office of the Governor, OneStar Foundation is pleased to announce the 32nd annual Governor’s Volunteer Awards. Awardees will be honored on Monday, September 21, 2015, at an evening reception hosted by Honorary Chair, First Lady Cecilia Abbott, at the Governor’s Mansion in Austin, Texas.

If you know of an outstanding individual, group or organization that truly embodies the Texas tradition of community service, we encourage you to nominate them for an award.

The Governor’s Volunteer Award categories are: Governor’s Lonestar Achievement, First Lady’s Rising Star, Partners in Education, Service to Veterans, Higher Education Community Impact, Corporate Community Impact, Community Leadership, Senior Corps Community Impact, and AmeriCorps  “Make a Difference”.
