Tips for Thriving During the Downturn part 5

The economy being what it is, many nonprofits are revisiting their fundraising strategies. In their recent article “9 Innovations That Are Helping Charities Thrive in the Downturn”, universities and other nonprofits share some efforts that have worked for them. 

  • Make Giving Like Groupon – Some universities have gotten creative with their marketing and have couched their giving opportunities in a group discount type model.  Their offerings, which are designed in a similar shape and appearance of a groupon are couched in terms of the services the donation will cover and are marketed to their online donor population.  Bryn Mawr College’s “Daily Difference” just helped the college cover the cost of a cross campus shuttle bus.
