Ensuring Your Fundraising Readiness Pt. 2

This week, we’ll examine a second tip the Evelyn and Walter Haas Foundation shared with the Chronicle of Philanthropy on creating the right environment for successful fundraising. According to Haas, having  your fundamental elements out of place, or even missing, could set your organization’s efforts back tremendously.  So while you may be eager to get the ball rolling and bring in the much needed dollars to help keep your organization afloat for the next year and beyond. Take some time to ensure that you have the basics in place, so that when the time for  the “ask” does come, you’ve position your fundraising ambassadors to succeed.   Tip #2 for creating a successful fundraising platform? Having a sound set of strategic priorities. What you value most is what you’ll focus your activities on, so make sure that your priorities and more specifically, your programs and services all reflect a strategic attempt on the part of the organization to identify and implement solutions to the problem facing your target population.  Most donors are evaluators at heart, so they’ll want to know that there is a plan in place that is creating change.
