Mental Health Awareness Grant for African-American Faith-Based Communities

Hogg Foundation Announces RFP for Mental Health Awareness Projects in African-American Faith-Based Communities

POSTED: May 27, 2014
DEADLINE: June 30, 2014

The program will support projects designed to improve awareness and perceptions of mental health, recovery, and wellness in African-American communities. To be eligible, applicants must be a Texas-based 501(c)(3) organization with access to African-American congregants who regularly participate in spiritual or worship services and activities. The primary mission of the organization should be to enhance the spiritual growth of congregants rather than a focus on education or social services. All denominations and creeds are eligible to apply. The goals of the initiative are to expand African-American faith-based programs and ministries in Texas to include mental health by educating congregants about mental health, recovery, and wellness; identifying local behavioral health resources for treatment and support; connecting congregants to behavioral health resources; and supporting faith leaders in addressing their own mental wellness and responses to stress.
